Production Manager

Atlas Site, Sheffield – Full-time / Permanent

Are you an experienced Production Manager wanting to take your career to the next level?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager to join our well-established team at Robert Sorby. As a key member of our company, you will play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating the production process, ensuring the timely delivery of our products and lead a highly experienced and skilled team.

In this role, you will work closely with the Managing Director/General Manager and be responsible for overseeing the production process and ensuring that all operations run smoothly. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with various teams and departments to develop and implement strategic plans to meet production targets and maintain high-quality standards. You will enjoy being hands as you will spend most of your time on the shop floor within the production environment. You will be involved in training and developing production staff, providing guidance on best practices, safety protocols, and quality control.

What about you? You will have a strong background in production management including planning and forecasting gained in the engineering industry. You will either have an engineering qualification or you may be qualified through experience. You will have a track record of meeting production targets and delivering high-quality products on time. You will be a people manager and have excellent leadership abilities to successfully lead and motivate production teams. You will have experience in CNC programming setting, operating and a good understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, tooling adaptation and application, and jig / fixture design.

Maintenance Fitter/Engineer

Are you a multi-skilled Maintenance Fitter/Engineer who enjoys working in a busy factory environment?

Do you enjoy the satisfaction of finding faults, fixing issues and positively impacting plant availability? If so, this may be the role for you. 

Joining our small maintenance team at our factory in Sheffield you’ll find plenty to keep you busy.  You’ll be involved in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults and carry out repairs to maximise production output and plant availability.   You’ll determine whether to purchase parts from suppliers or whether these can be produced in-house, and where required you will produce/turn the parts required.  Ensuring all PPM activity is carried out and keeping on top of general maintenance such as cleaning,  oiling and greasing, and maintain existing jigs and fixtures is also key to the role.

What about you?  You may be a time-served apprentice fitter/engineer, hold a mechanical or electrical engineering qualification, or you may be qualified through experience.  You will be multi-skilled with strong knowledge of mechanical systems, as well as a good electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge, gained in the manufacturing industry.

With a methodical and logical approach to work, you’ll be safety conscious with a good understand of health & safety practices and requirements, including following standard operating procedures.  It is important that you are a team player, but also able to work on your own initiative.  You’ll be providing a maintenance service to the entire factory and will need to demonstrate the ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise work effectively.

Predominantly, you’ll be working Monday – Friday on day shift aligning to the production teams.  The role does not currently have the requirement for on-call but there may the occasional requirement to work out of hours.
